Voter Identification in Pennsylvania

AS OF OCTOBER 2, 2012, VOTERS WILL BE ASKED TO SHOW PHOTO IDENTIFICATION,
BUT WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO SHOW PHOTO IDENTIFICATION, WHEN VOTING ON NOVEMBER 6, 2012, IN PENNSYLVANIA

Under a new law, voters will be asked, but not required, to show an acceptable photo ID with a valid expiration date when voting on November 6, 2012, in Pennsylvania.  If you are registered to vote, but don't have a photo ID, you can get one for free at a PennDOT Driver License Center (with supporting documentation).

Acceptable Photo IDs include:

Issued by the US Government or Commonwealth of PA
PA Driver's License or Non-driver's License photo IDs (IDs are valid for voting purposes 12 months past expiration date)
Issued by PA care facilities, including long-term care, assisted living or personal care
Issued by accredited PA public or private colleges, universities, or seminaries
Valid US Passport
Department of State IDs for voting
US military IDs - active duty and retired military (a military or veteran's ID must designate an expiration date or designate that the expiration date is indefinite); military dependents' IDs must contain an expiration date
Employee IDs issued by Federal, PA, PA County or PA Municipal governments

Voters' names on their photo IDs do not need to exactly match their voter registration, but the names must substantially conform.

Below is a link from the PA Department of State that will inform you if you are registered to vote and where the polling place is.  Caution: Some people find they are not registered because they did not put down information from their ID exactly the way it is on the registration form.
